Show and Tell

Show me how you work, God;
School me in your ways.
– Psalm 25, The Message

Schools and the workplace always look for someone who shines. Someone who can make the “show and tell” portion come alive. People are amazed or look up to others who can get the job done. I think part of the church culture is the “busy-ness” of an individual. How many ministries is he handling? How many disciples is he currently training? How many Bible studies or small group is the person leading? We look highly on the person who is so busy with the externals that we forget that the service in itself doesn’t matter to God. It does not give us any credit at all. What is important is our walk with Him. This psalm reminds me that we need to pause and look at what God can do. Stop what we are doing and allow God to teach us in His ways (not our way).

When we find ourselves listening and allowing God to teach us, then we learn to know what His will is.
