Actions can make us…or break us.

“The chief priests accused him of many things. So again Pilate asked him,

“Aren’t you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of.”

But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.”

Mark 15:3-5 (NIV)

Actions speak louder than words. Such a cliché but, as seen in the passage above, our actions (or inaction) make or break the way people see Christianity. Jesus did not see the need to defend Himself against the accusations of other people which amazed Pilate. The Roman governor might have been confused as to why Jesus was not defensive but, instead, allowed Himself to be mocked by the people who want Him killed.

A lot of people, especially me, often react with impatience even with the littlest annoyances. It takes a lot of patience to not take revenge and even more so when we know that we are not the ones who made a mistake. As difficult as it may be, we ought to follow Christ’s example and counter hatred with kindness — not out of indifference or pride, but because we can share the compassion and grace that Jesus has given to us by being loving and humble towards others.
