A note on the finals

Posted: September 30, 2014 in thought to ponder

The Final Examination is fast approaching. A lot of students would be rushing to finish the paperworks before the deadline. Teachers would be preparing the final examination, checking the list of students who have fulfilled their requirements, and those that are lagging behind. Sometimes, in the rush to finish things, we tend to forget our purpose, our passion, our calling. We just want to get through with the requirements. For finishing the course meant devoting our time, our energy, our attention in studying.

For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord,
and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel.
Ezra 7:10

Ezra was one of the men who was able to get back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple after the King, Cyrus, decreed that they all would go back. Yet he chose to devote himself to the study (that is to read, to take time to learn) and observance (that is to practice, to do it intentionally) of the Law of the Lord (not just books, not just any other subject, but the laws). He didn’t stop there, he went on to teach them to the Israelites.

May we, as students, remember our purpose is not just to pass, not just to be able to excel in school, but to come to a point that we would be willingly studying the Word of God, that we would devote our time, our resources, our energy to study and may it be seen in our lives. May we be known as people who observed the law of the Lord, our lives clearly seen as disciples of Christ.

May we not stop at studying. May we also teach it to others, that we may be able to train the next generation that they may not forget what God has done in our lives.

So welcome the finals. Continue to study. Look forward to teach others too.
