What are you waiting for?

But for you, O LORD, do I wait;
it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer. (Psalm 38:15)

The psalmist was writing in a desperate tone. After all, this psalm is in a somber mood for this is a memorial psalm. The title alone should give us a hint…do not forsake me, O Lord.

When was the time you felt forsaken? When was the time you felt the world collapsing? I can emphatize with brothers who are friendzoned, of friends who has literally not have a penny left, of people gettig worried as the bills pile up, of men and women who felt like the office is a battleground.

So what’s the solution to life’s messiness?

Wait on the Lord. It is He who will answer. The confidence we have is in the God who hears. That is why David was confident of writing a psalm in spite of difficulties. He knew of the God who listens…and answers.

Whatever problem we are caught in, we can run to God. We can wait and be confident that He will answer…in His own timing and methodology, not ours.
