Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
Matthew 3:8

Read: Matthew 3:1-12

John the Baptist was telling people to repent. He was a preacher who was able to stand up to the religious people of his day and tell them to their face that they were wrong. It wasn’t just about knowing what’s right and wrong, it’s ultimately pointing people to Christ.

Fast forward today. Some would say any religion is fine because all roads would lead us to heaven. Some would say it’s ok to sin because we’re not as sinful as others. Some would go to church, do the rhythms of a Christian life, yet remain unchanged. John the Baptist was saying, this isn’t enough. There should be fruit-bearing with repentance.

Can we check ourselves? Can we examine our lives? Can we see fruits as results or are we staying in the lane of the unchanged?

What message do we bring? Is it all about goodness and love? Do we talk about repentance as well?
