For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. – Matthew 16:27

Read: Matthew 16:13-28

He is coming back. When Jesus says He is going to come, He is going to come. That is a promise we can keep holding on to. For when He says something, He does it.

He isn’t just coming silently, unlike the first time He came to this earth. He is coming with his angels. I could only imagine that day, this world is gonna see angels.

He is coming in the glory of the Father. Reading the Old Testament, the glory of the Father makes one fear for his life. John collapsed like a corpse (Rev. 1:17). Isaiah cursed himself because of his sinfulness (Isaiah 6:5). Job saw his foolishness (Job 42:5-6). Each response is different but they responded in fear and awe. When Jesus comes back, the response is going to be in fear and awe.

And then judgment is going to be passed to each person. Whether it be eternal suffering or eternal security, each one would receive his due.

With this in mind, we can check ourselves and see if we live our lives in view of eternity. As one author puts it, “People accuse me of going overboard by preparing for my first ten million years in eternity. In my opinion, people go overboard in worrying about the last ten on earth” (Francis Chan, You and Me Forever).

When that day comes, the question is…are you ready to meet the King? May we be consciously living each day knowing He will return!
